The Saxon Citadel with the Fortified Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession

The citadel, comprising a triple enclosure, is documented in 1466 through documents related to royal privileges. It was likely built on the foundation of a 13th-century Romanesque basilica without a tower and fortified in the 16th century.

The Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas

It was built between 1795 and 1797 from stone, brick, tile, and wood. The founders of the church were Dumitru Orghidan and Radu Bogdan, two merchants from Brașov who also founded other churches in Transylvania. In the right wall of the church in the Holy Altar, you will find engraved in stone the inscription with the names of the church founders and the date of its construction.

The "Valea Hârtibaciului" Museum

Founded by Erhard Andrée in 1959. It includes collections of ethnography, history, archaeology, science and technology, as well as rare books. The historically valuable objects were donated by the town's locals and the inhabitants of the Hârtibaciu Valley.

The Lole Run

Agnita preserves the tradition of the Lole Parade, one of the oldest and most significant traditions of the Transylvanian Saxons. The festivity takes place at the end of January to drive away winter and evil spirits. In the Middle Ages, the custom was associated with the moment of handing over the guild chest to the new guild master. In frightening costumes, the Loles, who were tasked with protecting the neighborhood chests, marched noisily through the town, playing all sorts of pranks.
