Route: Mediaș – Bazna and its mysterious surroundings
A leisurely hike, open to everyone from young to old.
Spring is the perfect time to discover the beauty of the hills in the heart of Transylvania. The clean air, the raw green of the hills and pastures, the first signs of spring and the quiet of the country roads create the ideal setting for a day spent in nature.
We start from Mediaș on an easy hike, on a picturesque segment of the Via Transilvanica, which winds through gentle hills, forests and pastures. Along the way, we enjoy wide landscapes towards the Saxon villages and the forests that outline the Târnave area, discovering the authentic charm of this region.
After a few hours of leisurely walking we arrive in Bazna, where a tasty stop awaits us: a visit to the Bassen Pension's pantry, a welcoming, rustic place with an authentic atmosphere. The hosts will share stories and curiosities about the Bazna resort, and we will fully enjoy the local flavors and the tranquility of the place.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
Sunday, 22.03.2026 at 09:00, Hornbach parking lot.
We will group up in our personal cars and set off towards Mediaș.

Level: easy
Level difference: 200 – 300 m
Hiking time: 3 – 4 hours
Experience time: 6 hours
Distance: 6.5 – 11 km
We will walk approximately 6.5 km to Bazna, where we will make a stop at the Cămara cu bantăți. After this break, for those who wish to continue, there will be an optional route of approximately another 4.5 km, in which we will explore the wonderful surroundings of the Bazna area.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
T-shirts, change of pants and socks, mountain boots, raincoat, water bottle min 1 liter, snacks, whistle, flashlight, trekking poles (optional). It is best to dress in layers, because the morning is cooler, and at noon it is much warmer.
COSTS
Participation in the hike: 80 lei adults and 40 lei children

Optional – traditional menu at the Pantry with Goodies (based on a suggested donation):
Adult: 60 lei
Child (up to 12 years old): 30 lei
Traditional potato soup with smoked meat will be served, and the hosts will prepare other goodies and surprises of the house.
