In 1965, France Gall won the Eurovision Song Contest with the first pop song in the history of the competition, “Poupée de cire, poupée de son”, written by Serge Gainsbourg especially for a teenage performer. The script is built on the model of a monodrama, in which accounts of facts, events and lived sensations, introspections, confessions and meditations from the character’s intimate universe take place. The dramatic structure also includes a few inserts from the TV news programs of the time, as well as a series of carefully selected hits from those that led to the fame of France Gall’s name worldwide. Thus, the protagonist tells his life story in the first person, juxtaposing memories, impressions, dialogues and fragments of reality or self-fiction. The show talks about the relationship between freedom and coercion/manipulation in the fragile balance that notoriety brings to a star's private life.
