19.30 Patrons’ and Supporters’ Dinner at the Priest’s House

Friday 13 September
10.00 Welcome by Bronwen Riley to the 5th Edition. Walk through the Priest’s House to the 13th century church.
10.20 Dr Ciprian Firea will speak in the church on the priestly patrons of the Transylvanian Renaissance and the magnificent, recently uncovered wall-paintings.
11.00 Coffee in the priest’s house and introduction to the bookshop
11.30 Visit to the Saxon fortified church of Biertan, led by Ciprian Firea
13.15 Lunch in Richis in the Priest House courtyard


Free time during which the bookshop and festival exhibitions will be open to viewing.

16.00 Marina Cantacuzino on the inspiration behind her The Forgiveness Project and her latest book Forgiveness: An Exploration, recently published in Romanian.
16.45 Prof Marc David Baer on the Ottomans in Europe, in conversation with HM Ambassador to Romania Giles Portman and Dr Alex Drace-Francis
