Dear nature lovers,

On Saturday, February 11, we set off on a hike on the highlands of Mediaș to familiarize ourselves with the world of birds that winter here. We will make many stops, in order to observe and identify the birds in the forest by sound.
In the forest there are Great Tit (Parus major), Marsh Tit (Poecile palustris) and we heard the sounds of the Green woodpecker (Picusviridis), the Grey-headed woodpecker (Picus canus), the Great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major), the Common Buzzard (Buteo Buteo). The plan is to reach the shore of the Ighiș lake, where we will see, among other things, Little Grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis) and a swan.
The tour is aimed at future bird watchers. It is designed for those who do not know much about birds but want to learn a little more. More than a hike, on February 11 we propose a sensory experience.

WHEN AND WHERE CAN WE MEET?
At 09.45, at the Forkesch Tower.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
Hiking boots;
Seasonal clothing – hat, waterproof jacket;
Water/tea bottle, minimum 1L;
Snack.
Recommendation: trekking poles and binoculars.

COSTS
80 lei/person.
The number of places available is limited to 12 people.
For children up to 14 years of age, participation in the hike is free, provided they are accompanied by an adult (parents are responsible for assessing the difficulty of the route for children).

The "Hiking Years" program is initiated and financed by the Sibiu County Council, in collaboration with the Sibiu County Tourism Association. The main goal is to improve the hiking infrastructure in the county and to promote activities specific to ecotourism.
