Just a few steps from Sibiu, the Transylvanian hills offer you a gentle and open landscape, perfect for an autumn hike. The hills between Gușterița and Hamba preserve the natural charm of the region with green meadows, easy paths, pheasants, deer and wide panoramas towards villages with Saxon influence.
The destination is Hamba, an authentic Saxon village, a place of legends, with a well-preserved fortified church, traditional houses and households that preserve the taste and lifestyle of the past.
Upon arrival, selected local tastes await you: pita with chisătura, bacon, kneaded cheese, zacuscă, sausages, beans beaten with onions, the most delicious donuts, juice and coffee.
WHERE AND WHEN SHOULD WE MEET?
Monday, 29.09.2025 at 09:30, the fortified church in Gușterița on Octavian Niță Street no. 36 from where we will start the hike.
ROUTE INFORMATION
Level difference: 200 m
Hike duration: 2 – 3 hours
Experience duration: 5 - 6 hours
Distance: 10 km. This will be established on site depending on the level of the participants and can be easily adjusted.
We will start the hike at 09:45 to the village of Hamba. In Hamba we will enjoy a lunch with local specialties, both Romanian and Saxon.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
T-shirts, pants and socks, mountain boots, raincoat, water bottle min 1 liter, food, whistle. It is best to dress in layers, because it is warmer at noon and cooler in the morning.
COSTS
80 lei for the hike
6 lei/person for the bus ticket to Sibiu train station.
Optional: local lunch by donation.
