Dear Hikers,

Hosman is one of the Saxon villages located within the Natura 2000 site for bird protection, the Hârtibaci Plateau. The trail we will embark on starts in front of the fortified church in Hosman, where we will head south on a country road towards the wooded hill's crest. We'll traverse vast meadows adorned with ancient oaks, making our way to a patch of forest, crossing it to reach a spot with a panoramic view of the Olt River, the Făgăraș Country, and the majestic Făgăraș Mountains. This is the perfect place to discuss three other protected areas: the Natura 2000 site Avrig – Scorei – Făgăraș, dedicated to conserving water birds along the Olt River; the Natura 2000 site Piemontul Făgăraș (protecting forest bird species); and the Natura 2000 site Munții Făgăraș, safeguarding forest habitats, mountain meadows, and various animal species, including large carnivores.

WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
We'll gather at 11:00 AM in the morning in front of the fortified church in the village of Hosman.
