Dear gourmet and lover of local experiences, we have prepared a special culinary event for you in Hoghilag, in Taramul Tuberozelor and at the local gastronomic point Valchid 239.

We invite you to discover the symbolic flowers of the Hoghilag commune, the only locality in Romania where these flowers, famous for their pleasant and elegant fragrance, are traditionally cultivated by locals.
Tuberoses bloom unevenly, starting from July and ending in October, and their maintenance and harvesting require painstaking work, carried out exclusively by hand. The tradition of their cultivation was brought by the Saxons during the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and is currently continued by the families in the village, transforming Hoghilag into a special tourist destination.
Rediscover with us the charm of Transylvanian villages, old traditions, impressive architecture and the taste of old food, savoring traditional dishes, cooked slowly, with respect for the ingredients and with much love for the authentic taste.

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, starting at 10:00, we will meet in front of the fortified church in Hoghilag, and in a few hours we will set off for a charming farmstead in the picturesque Saxon village of Valchid, located in the heart of Transylvania, just 7 km away from the UNESCO site Biertan, not far from the entrance to Via Transilvanica – Terra Saxonum sector.

PROGRAM
The event will take place between 10:00-16:00, and we will enjoy the following activities together:
🔸 meeting in front of the fortified church in Hoghilag, socializing with a small tasting, in an old renovated Saxon house; we will prepare you a liqueur with semolina;
🔸 visit to the tuberose gardens, time spent in nature, photos and the possibility of buying flowers on site;
🔸 visit to the fortified evangelical church in Hoghilag;
🔸 appetizer with local products from our hosts' farm, at Valchid 239: eggplant salad, various cheeses, ham, bacon, lard, zacuscă, homemade sausages, minced meatballs, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, homemade bread, lemonade, water, coffee (from the Rubia social enterprise in the village of Șoala);
🔸 presentation of the local gastronomic point Valchid 239;
🔸 relaxation time in the garden and stories with our dear hosts, the Grancea family;
🔸 walk through the village and visit to the fortified evangelical church in Valchid, a historical monument;
🔸 free discussion about clean food with Ioana & Marius from Culinarativ;
🔸 serving lunch: chicken soup with homemade noodles, pork cauldron with potatoes, homemade bread, coffee, lemonade, water;
🔸 end of the event: each participant will go home with tuberoses and many beautiful memories from a fairytale place!
