Dear hiker,

Come with us on a special hike, on a route that starts from Dupuș and ends in Brateiu, crossing the gentle highlands of Transylvania. It is not just a walk in nature, but a cultural and human experience, in which we discover the stories of the Roma community, their traditions and an authentic way of life. We will explore copper and brass crafts, recognized as among the most appreciated in Europe, we will learn how these crafts are passed down from generation to generation and we will enjoy true traditional culinary delights, prepared according to old, tasteful recipes.
A hike lived in peace, in which nature, people and their stories offer us a new perspective on the hills of Târnava River Basin.

WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
Departure will take place on Saturday, 07.02.2026, at 09:00, from Sibiu (the Hornbach parking lot), by private car, to the town of Dupuș.

ROUTE INFORMATION
Distance: 8–10 km
Level difference: approx. 200–300 m
Route difficulty: easy
Hiking time: 2.5–3.5 hours
Experience time: 5–6 hours

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Mountain equipment is mandatory: T-shirts, pants and socks, boots, raincoat, hiking poles (recommended), hat, gloves, flashlight, whistle, water bottle (minimum 1.5 l) or hot tea, magnesium. Snacks along the route.

COSTS
Adult: 80 lei – participation in the hike
Child: 40 lei

At the end of the hike we will stop at the homestead of some of the most famous copper and brass craftsmen in Europe, where we will have a unique cultural program: stories about Roma culture, demonstrations of traditional crafts and authentic meetings with local people. Also optional, participants can have an authentic lunch, prepared according to traditional recipes, with local ingredients.

Adults: cultural program + lunch – 60 lei / person; cultural program (without meal) – 30 lei / person
Children: cultural program + lunch – 30 lei / child; cultural program (without meal) – 15 lei / child

– The configuration and length of the route will be adapted depending on the weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who come equipped inappropriately to the requirements or with inadequate physical condition.
– The tours are held in safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel the tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– The ticket value is refunded only if the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.

The “Hiking Years” program is initiated and financed by the Sibiu County Council, in collaboration with the Sibiu County Tourism Association. The main goal is to improve the hiking infrastructure in the county and to promote activities specific to ecotourism.
