Dear hikers,
We invite you on a hike to Shepherd Florin Coșorean’s *Stâna de pe Coline* (Hillside Sheepfold), where we will also take part in a workshop titled "How to Handle Encounters with Dogs on the Trail."
We will set off from Criș, parking our cars near Bethlem Castle, and follow the Via Transilvanica route towards Mălâncrav for a while. Upon reaching the first wide clearing, we will pause briefly for the theoretical part of the workshop, discussing how to handle encounters with sheepfold dogs or those met on mountain trails. We will learn more about their behavior and how they react in various situations.
We will then continue our journey, and shortly after leaving Florești, we will arrive at Shepherd Florin’s *Stâna de pe Coline*. Here, we will have the chance to put into practice what we discussed earlier, as the shepherd’s dogs will be the first to greet us.
After "negotiating" with them and convincing them that we pose no threat to the sheepfold they guard, we will settle in for a chat with our hosts and take a longer break. The Coșorean family will also prepare a snack featuring traditional dishes.
After the meal and some time to rest in the peaceful surroundings, we will head back to Criș, following a loop route that leads us right back to our cars. The hike is suitable for individuals with a basic level of fitness and for children aged 8 and up who have previously completed medium-length trails.

WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
We meet at 9:30 AM in the Kaufland parking lot on Calea Șurii Mari.
From there, we will travel in our own vehicles along the Sibiu – Mediaș – Criș route, parking near Bethlem Castle.

TRAIL INFORMATION
Distance: 12 km
Elevation gain: 380 m
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Hike duration: Approximately 6–7 hours
Including the drive to and from Sibiu, the total duration will be approximately 9–10 hours.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Water-resistant hiking boots or shoes with good grip;
Season-appropriate clothing;
Technical base layer (long-sleeve top or t-shirt);
Waterproof and windproof outer layer (preferably lightweight);
Spare t-shirt or base layer;
Small daypack;
Water bottle (minimum 1.5 L);
Trail snack – we recommend a pastry, croissant, or protein/candy bar.
Trekking poles can be very helpful.

COSTS
Guiding and workshop: 80 RON/adult
40 RON/student (over 12 years old) or university student
20 RON/child (under 11 years old)
Meal at the sheepfold: 50 RON/person, regardless of age. The tour requires a minimum of 8 adult participants.
Children aged 6 and up may participate, provided each is accompanied by a parent. Parents are responsible for assessing the trail's difficulty for their children.

TRANSPORT
We can arrange round-trip transport for a limited number of people. To reserve a seat, please contact us by phone at 0722-177001 after registering.
Once registration is complete, the guide will create a WhatsApp group to coordinate logistics and arrange carpooling with those driving their own vehicles.
Transport costs will be shared among the occupants of each car. The approximate cost is 40 RON per person.
